<p>Time sure does fly by when you are having fun. Today, a well-established Canadian brand is celebrating their 25th Anniversary, an impressive milestone worth celebrating. <a href="https://bizsold.com/listing/booster-juice-franchise-opportunity">Booster Juice</a> first opened shop in Sherwood Park, Alberta back on November 13th, 1999. Since then, they have built a reputation on providing customers with delicious, feel-good smoothies and food options with top-notch customer service. Today, Canada’s original juice and smoothie bar is successfully operating with more than 450 locations from coast to coast. This type of growth and longevity is rare among Quick Service Restaurants like Booster Juice, something we, as Canadians, are happy to celebrate.&nbsp;</p>



<p>“I really haven’t reflected on the magnitude of today’s event until now when it sunk in that it’s a big milestone, and it’s been a lot of fun and has changed many people’s lives positively” said Booster Juice President and CEO, Dale Wishewan. “I’m incredibly thankful of our amazing customers, Franchise Partners, and my corporate and store staff who I have the privilege to work alongside. This type of success isn’t possible without being surrounded by amazing people. I am also thankful of my family who have been so supportive during this wild journey.”&nbsp;</p>



<p>Born and raised in Waskatenau, Alberta, Dale Wishewan has always been driven to pursue and achieve success. Possessing a lifelong passion for sports and fitness, he attended Portland State University on a baseball scholarship. While travelling throughout the United States, he noticed the popularity of juice and smoothie bars, and quickly realized there was an opportunity in the crowded Canadian fast-food market to provide a healthier alternative to consumers with an active lifestyle. Making his own protein concoctions for years, and with his interest in health and wellness, he made it a goal to bring fresh and healthy food to the Canadian market. The hard work began with his own home kitchen serving as the testing ground for one smoothie creation after another &#8211; including some of the most popular smoothies on their current menu!&nbsp;</p>



<p>When the first store opened in Sherwood Park, it was a new concept to Canada. November was not the ideal time either going into the dead of a Canadian winter selling cold beverages. Co-workers, neighbours, and friends thought Dale was crazy to embark on something so foreign to Canadians, but he was determined. As it turned out, people were ready for a healthy fast-food alternative, and there was nothing else like Booster Juice in the market.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Things moved quickly after that. By the end of year one, fifteen locations were open and in year two, another thirty-five more locations were added. This was such an achievement that it is still a Canadian Franchise Record for opening 50 stores in two years from inception.&nbsp;</p>



<p>When others in the Food Service Industry have asked how he was able to open 50 stores in two years, Dale&#8217;s reply is always the same, <em>&#8220;</em>I didn&#8217;t know in the first year whether 5 stores were typical, or 25, and everything came naturally from a project management side. The next thing you know we had 50 stores.&#8221; </p>



<p>Now, after 25 years, they are still blending up incredibly delicious smoothies, delivering convenient wraps, paninis, rolling up energizing Booster Balls, and freshly preparing nutritious shots and beverages.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Litigation History</strong>&nbsp;</p>



<p>The first thing to know before purchasing a <a href="https://thebizex.com/franchise-for-sale">franchise</a> is the history of litigation within the franchise. Have your team prepare for the legal issues, risks and financial situation at hand. A franchisee may feel obligated to track the legal history of a franchise before they think about joining. Conducting the proper research of the litigation history may save you from disastrous results from buying into the wrong franchise. </p>



<p><strong>Renewal Rights</strong></p>



<p>It’s not guaranteed that a franchisee is offered friendly renewal terms. Preferably when franchise buyers are looking to buy a unit, the length of the renewal period should be perpetual. Otherwise, that can affect the possibility of the unit selling if the franchisee wanted to sell the unit down the line. It’s important to consider the renewals you’re entitled to is a very important contract term.&nbsp;</p>



<p><strong>Restricted Covenants</strong>&nbsp;</p>



<p>There are lots of things a franchisee can and cannot do during and after franchise ownership. The important covenants are usually after the ownership. Research the details &amp; restrictions of post-franchise ownership. Some franchises may move to terminate ownership due to the franchisees&#8217; lack of involvement in daily operations.</p>



<p><strong>Company Right To Acquire Units</strong>&nbsp;</p>



<p>Many franchise agreements state that at the end of a franchise agreement, the franchisor has the right to acquire the assets. There’s nothing wrong with selling the franchise back to the franchisor, as long as the price is up to the seller’s expectations. The only issue is if the franchisor is planning to use a “depreciated value” formula to buy the franchise back. This proposed depreciated price is calculated by reducing the value of the unit based on the amount of years the franchisee has had it for. By the time the franchisee wants to sell the unit, it may not be worth as much.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<p><strong>Franchise Disclosure Agreement</strong>&nbsp;</p>



<p>The franchise disclosure agreement is a legal document provided to the franchisee outlining the franchise system, information about the <strong><em><a href="https://thebizex.com/franchise-for-sale" data-type="URL" data-id="https://thebizex.com/franchise-for-sale"><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-black-color">Franchise For Sale</mark></a>,</em></strong> and any agreements that will need to be signed. Furthermore, the franchise disclosure agreement shows the number of units closed in the past three years. This is important for the franchisee when they have to make an informed decision regarding the purchase of that franchise.</p>

<p>Potential buyers should reach out to current franchisees of the brand to better understand the brand and the franchising process firsthand. Doing this would give a potential buyer deeper insight into the inner workings of a brand and better understand the investment process.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The History of Chef&#8217;s Door</h2>



<p>Originally from Egypt, Chef Abdel holds a master’s degree in Agriculture from Suez Canal University and graduated at the top of his class at the Chef Academy at the Institute of Tourism Studies in Malta. Having travelled extensively throughout the Middle East and around the world, Chef Abdel successfully established a series of restaurants from the Pyramids of Giza to the islands of the Mediterranean before emigrating to Canada in 2001. His well-established reputation as a chef is based on his love of cooking as well as his insistence on the best and freshest ingredients. This dedication to unwavering quality has made all of his restaurants an unqualified success. Chef Abdel prides himself with never cutting corners when it comes to his unique menu. His home-made marinades, sauces and dressings set Chef’s Door apart from all other shawarma and Middle Eastern restaurants with inspired menu choices that customers not only love but continue to visit time and time again.</p>



<p>Subsequent to establishing the first Chef’s Door location in 2008, Chef Abdel established two more successful locations prior to meeting his partner, Sylvain Rollin. A senior executive from the IT world, Sylvain and his family have been passionate customers of Chef’s Door cuisine for many years. In 2018, Abdel and Sylvain began talking about working together to franchise and grow Chef’s Door.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Restaurant Locations</h2>



<p>Franchisees are granted the right to establish their restaurants in a specific geographic area. To date, Chef’s Door restaurants have been successfully established in strip mall locations across Oakville and Burlington. Our existing locations currently range from 1,260 to 2,300 square feet in size, with the optimum size being approximately 1,400 square feet. Our focus is to initially concentrate our expansion efforts in the Golden Horseshoe area around Toronto, Ontario, from Oshawa to St. Catharines.</p>



<p>Chef’s Door uses a detailed site selection check list to sift through the seemingly limitless number of available locations on the market at any given point in time. This is a detailed and time-consuming process that requires everyone’s input. As a result, we only start looking for sites once we have each completed our “due diligence” and decided we want to do business together. This decision typically occurs at the time the franchise agreement is signed by both parties.</p>
